On June 30, 2015 the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service will add one second to accommodate the slowing of the rotation of the earth. SS&C Technologies will continue function properly with the addition of one more second at 23:59:59 UTC or 7:59:59pm EDT – the time most of SS&C’s systems reside in. A similar second was added on July 1, 2012 and SS&C Technologies, its applications, and servers had no issues handling the longer year.
SS&C Technologies synchronies all its systems clocks – not just application computer clocks but network switches, firewalls and routers with to various official government based servers via a protocol called NTP, to generally have the same time on everything. Our central NTP servers are kept up to date with the latest patches which handle leap seconds. SS&C expects no issues on June 30, 2015 but will have systems staff standing by should issues arise.
