Academy of CPM

The SS&C Learning Institute is the exclusive provider and administrator of ACPM’s prestigious Certified Portfolio Manager® credential program. The Certified Portfolio Manager (CPM) program is a concentrated training curriculum designed by the Academy of Certified Portfolio Managers to immerse candidates in topics around discretionary portfolio management. The goal of the program is to update the portfolio manager’s skills in asset valuation, portfolio construction and risk management.

The Academy of Certified Portfolio Managers (ACPM) is the only organization that creates a credentialed program of excellence (CPM Certification) for training discretionary portfolio managers. The collaborative and continuous learning experience enables portfolio managers to achieve a higher level of expertise in multiple facets of the ever-changing financial services industry and dynamic global economy. The SS&C learning institute provides much of the courseware offered in the ACPM program.

The Certified Portfolio Manager (CPM®) designation is a collaboration of the Academy of Certified Portfolio Managers and Columbia University. The academic component is designed to provide a deeper understanding of fundamental security analysis, asset allocation, and portfolio management concepts for the financial services industry professionals managing discretionary portfolios. The curriculum encompasses eight core concepts:

  • Quantitative Methods
  • Financial Statement Analysis
  • Corporate Finance
  • Fixed Income Analysis
  • Equity Analysis
  • Fiduciary Responsibility
  • Derivatives
  • Portfolio Management

To attain the CPM® certification, ACPM members are required to complete two components:

  1. 150-200 hours of independent study
  2. week-long residential program hosted by the IEOR Department at Columbia University.
