Certified Portfolio Manager Program

Academy of Certified Portfolio Managers and Columbia University

An SS&C learning Institute premier partner, the Academy of Certified Portfolio Managers (ACPM) is the world’s only organization that creates and manages a credentialed program of excellence (CPM® Certification) for training discretionary portfolio managers. The collaborative and continuous learning experience enables portfolio managers to achieve a higher level of expertise in multiple facets of the ever-changing financial services industry and dynamic global economy. The SS&C learning institute provides much of the courseware offered in ACPM programs.

The Certified Portfolio Manager program is a collaboration between the Academy of Certified Portfolio Managers (ACPM), and Columbia University. Graduates of the program not only advance their knowledge in valuation analysis, portfolio construction, and risk management, they will also earn the prestigious CPM® credential, a certification of advanced training respected by both Financial Services Industry companies and clients.

Participants complete an online curriculum created by the Academy of Certified Portfolio Managers, and upon completion of online exams with qualifying scores, will be invited to participate in a multipart program on the New York City campus of Columbia University.

The Certified Portfolio Manager program is designed to provide a deeper understanding of fundamental security analysis, asset allocation, and portfolio management concepts for the financial services industry professionals managing discretionary portfolios. The curriculum encompasses eight core concepts:

  • Quantitative Methods
  • Financial Statement Analysis
  • Corporate Finance
  • Fixed Income Analysis
  • Equity Analysis
  • Fiduciary Responsibility
  • Derivatives
  • Portfolio Management

To attain the CPM certification, ACPM members are required to complete two components:

1. 150-200 hours of independent study
2. week-long residential program hosted by the IEOR Department at Columbia University.
