InvestOps has wrapped up their annual global conference, themed, “Reimagining Investment Operations post COVID-19.” SS&C was a proud sponsor and a key participant in three events: an exclusive workshop, a keynote panel and an all-star panel, each lead by distinguished buy-side speakers from organizations such as BlackRock, Sagen, Vanguard, American Fidelity Assurance, and more.
Discussion throughout the sessions focused on innovative technology, process and cultural questions that we, as investment operations practitioners, are facing as we move together through the pandemic. Attendees heard leaders share thoughts on how their firms can evolve to better serve clients in a post-COVID-19 environment, as well as plans they are making to advance and protect investment operations amid such uncertainty and global market volatility.
The future is now. Tackling tomorrow’s problems today: What steps can you take to prepare for the operational, accounting, data management, reporting and analytic needs of tomorrow?
In this workshop, buy-side speakers from American Fidelity Assurance, Sagen (formerly Genworth Canada) and SS&C Technologies discuss how current market conditions and technologies are impacting investment operations, presenting new challenges, driving opportunities—and most importantly, illuminating their paths forward—in a post-COVID-19 environment.
Keynote Panel Discussion

During this keynote panel, leaders from BlackRock, Vanguard and SS&C discuss how digitization and technology are changing the kinds of expertise firms need across front, middle and back-office operations, and how these leading companies are synthesizing new technologies and reimagining their operating models to create better service for clients with improved business results.
All Star Panel
How can you leverage Straight Through Processing (STP) to lower operating costs and reduce settlement risks?
Leaders from BNP Paribas Asset Management, CG Asset Management, State of Wisconsin Investment Board, AXA Investment Managers, Market Alpha Advisors, and SS&C discuss the transformational nature of STP. Panelists give examples of positive culture change, increased innovation and productivity as well as scalability and stability that STP has brought to their firms.
Common discussion threads that frequently took center stage included increased workflow automation and exceptions processing through the use of disruptive technologies such as AI, machine learning, predictive analytics and natural language processing. Panelists—including those from SS&C—had stories to tell and advice to impart on what firms can expect and look for in service vendors and technology partners when making outsourcing or co-sourcing decisions that provide access to these technologies.
