In their blog post Handwriting OCR Vendor Analysis, Cano AI compared SS&C Vidado’s AI-powered Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software against other top providers in the space. Cano AI, a consulting group focused on discovering and sharing the most cutting-edge automation solutions, filled out a generic medical document containing a variety of short-form and long-form handwritten responses like the ones processed by healthcare and insurance companies. They then submitted this document to all three services and manually analyzed the accuracy rates.
Cano AI used this document for analysis.
The results? One competitor accurately transcribed 54.8% of the words on the page, another accurately transcribed 65.1% of the words, while SS&C Vidado came in significantly higher by transcribing 95.3% of the words on the page correctly. This means that, on challenging workflows, Vidado is able to automate 73.9% and 46.3% more data, respectively, than the competition. This results in increases in the volume of straight-through processing, reductions in exception handling, greater and speedier throughput, and more cost savings.
“As we can see, Vidado performed the greatest of the group, achieving a 95.3% accuracy rating with 101 out of 106 words digitized correctly,” Cano AI reported.
