For a variety of reasons, the financial industry requires technology built on a foundation of a robust set of security controls. Protecting sensitive data, meeting regulatory requirements, maintaining trust and reputation, preventing financial loss, ensuring system integrity and managing risk are some of the main drivers behind investors’ and managers’ expectations of security in the technology solutions they choose. Users also expect efficiency, leading many to choose solutions based in the cloud. However, not all cloud solutions are created equal. Depending on how effectively an organization configures and manages its cloud environments—from data protection and access management to innovation and adherence to best practices—a well-run cloud environment can offer convenience, cost savings and security in one tidy package.

SS&C develops our technologies using open-source projects like those available from The Apache Software Foundation and The Cloud Native Computer Foundation. We integrate and harden those projects within our infrastructure to secure them within our cloud. This approach has allowed us to build our cloud environment, giving our customers the security they expect alongside the convenience of using the cloud. Our security-first approach and transparency with the technologies driving our solutions give our customers the confidence to trust us with their data. More than $45 trillion of assets run on SS&C Technologies solutions. Our private cloud has its own Terraform provider and REST API, and it supports Iaas, Kubernetes, Apache Kafka, Apache NiFi, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Oracle, SQL Server and Postgres—all offered as a Service.

NiFi has enabled us to build record processing solutions with features like Record Path Language (RPL) to configure processors. These processors can run SQL commands over streaming data, lookup services allowing processors to enrich data, Kafka-oriented processors enabling the publishing and consumption of record data, and more. We have also leveraged NiFi to develop our database integration tools, processing control branches and loops, data flow configuration management, and performance tuning and scaling.
